Operations Research Department
Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California
The Operations Research Department of the Naval Postgraduate School
anticipates having several visiting and/or tenure-track faculty positions
available starting in September 2001. The ranks of tenure-track positions

have a background in stochastic operations research. Preferred research
interests are applied probability, dynamic-systems modeling, and military

student body encourages faculty to work on a wide variety of problems of
national importance. Successful applicants will have a demonstrated
excellence in teaching and an outstanding research record. Preference will
be given to candidates with a proven ability to seek out, formulate, and
solve non-traditional problems in real-world settings. Experience with
problems in the Department of Defense and the ability to obtain a U.S.
security clearance are assets. The positions require strong communication
and human relations skills in order to collaborate on research projects
with students and faculty in the interdisciplinary Operations Research
Department, other departments in the Naval Postgraduate School and other
academic and research-oriented institutions, and with sponsors in the
Department of Defense. Further information can be found on the
departmentUs web page: http://web.nps.navy.mil/~opnsrsch/.
Applicants should provide an application letter, including a statement of
research interests and accomplishments, and a curriculum vitae, to Matt
Boensel at mgboense at nps.navy.mil or by mail to Faculty Recruiting
Committee, Operations Research Department, Naval Postgraduate School,
Monterey, CA 93943. After an initial screening, promising candidates will
be asked to have letters of reference forwarded. Applications received by
March 31, 2001 will receive priority. The Naval Postgraduate School is an
Equal Opportunity Employer.
